Car is a 1973 Dartsport. If rear of car is jacked up and then lowered, the drivers side of the front of the car will sit 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches lower than the passenger side. Once the car is driven around, the front end will level itself out.The front shocks are Koni Adjustable Drag Racing Shock SPA1's. I think they work pretty good on the car but they were on the car when I bought it and therefore could be 7-8 years old. Is the sagging on the front side due to the shocks or is there another problem? Car has torsion bars and I do not know how old they are.
Is it time for some new shocks? If so, would there be any reason not to use new SPA1's again?

Think about what you said about the car and the rear end, maybe the rear shocks are binding and not settleing down like they should (until you drive it around) when you let it down  I would take the rear shocks off and check them out thoroughly You might as well do the fronts at the same time so there is no doubt about which is causing what

Cab,
Thanks for the response. I will check the rear shocks. Let me ask another question to everyone. What would be the average life of front and rear shocks on a drag car? How often do others replace them (any rules of thumb)?

If I jack mine up in the garage then set the front end back down I have to back it up and pull it forwards while turning the wheel back and forth to get the front to settle back down.

It sets 2 or 3 inches higher then it should if I dont do that.

Its from the suspension binding due to the alignment on mine.

Have you checked the gap between the lower bump stops and the frame, one of my torsion bars is a little weak and it sags like that, i've wound that side up a little more to keep it level.

My AFCO's have been on the rear of mine for 3+ years. I just took them off a couple weeks ago and had them dyno'd and told them to rebuild them. They put them on the dyno and showed me the sheets and said; what do you want us to do with them??? They look perfect. Thats literally thousands of miles riding in the trailer and about 800 passes down the track. Hope that helps

It could be the urethane bushing in the front end that I put in the car in 1996 or so - they always seem to be a little grabby and would always do that - if those are the original shocks they are also that old. Might be time to go through that front end again to freshen it up it as it has seen just a few passes since it was done.

Thanks Double D for the information on the car. This is helpful. I will go through a few of the things mentioned by others also. Will also probably replace the front shocks. Thanks to all who responded.

Koni's are usually rebuildable. Might want to check their tech line.
That car looks familiar...
