i know this is simple, but what method are you guys using to install the water pump gasket? are you sticking it to the pump then mating it to the engine or sticking the gasket to the engine first?

reason i ask, is i managed to F up my first attempt by sticking it to the engine first. turns out it twisted on me when torquing the bolts down, ripped and leaked right off the bat.

thanks for the help guys

small or big block? Housing/timing cover to block or pump to housing/timing cover?

Form a gasket, avation formula, glued to the housing.

coat housing with form a gasket, smear a touch on the gasket, lay them on each other, then coat the engine side of the gasket and assemble.

Ive used 3M yellow trim adhesive for probally 30 years.I run a bot on the pump let it tack up and install. That way if you have to replace again most sticks to the pump and not the motor.Rocky
