Any person with a mill can mill you a small rib around the water holes, and then all ya do is fill the rib with a good fast setting sealant, make a tiny crown and it acts like an o ring. Ive seen a few sets like that.

Just use a quality sealer.. The best stuff out there IMO Is called
"The Right Stuff"
It wont leak no way no how. I have never had any water pump housing sealing problems... Ever and Most all my stuff uses a motor plate too.
I made my own elephant ears using 1/4 Mild steel plate, drilled some holes and it works like a charm.

I use right stuff on everthing except them I just use gaskets and never had a leak. One question though is your water pump housing bin mild for the diference in the plate thickness? Cause if it is you may notice the holes get larger the more that is mild off and a gasket will not cover the holes??????

I use the stock Fel pro blue gaskets, one on each side and sometimes some thermostat housing silicone sealer, sometimes not I
ve thought about takine the ears to a machine shop and have them cut both sides of the ears for a O ring around both openings and then use a good hydraulic supply house quality O Ring material to make them with Maybe one of theses days when it won't seal up so easy

Fel-pro blue gaskets and some ultra grey or black and no leaks however, they do need a re-torquing I noticed.

Toyota's black silicone. Very tuff stuff. They use it for metal to metal with no gaskets. Like aluminum oil pans ect.

I used a pair of SUPERFORMANCE gaskets when I put it in the motor plate on my car.

No sealant or anything else.

If you had a 1 piece plate you wouldnt have nearly
the problem that you have with the 2 piece/ears...
the 2 plates want to pivot on the bolts

Well said and you beat me to it
Sometimes so with the 1 piece plate if the bolt holes are not close to the bolt size
I just use the gaskets and no sealer

Also, I agree that the 2-piece motor plates tend to move around more than one piece and may be more prone to leak.

Same here..not a drop of water at all.First time I've actually had the motor plate sealed since I've been running the car.

Superformance gaskets are the best without any doubt.
