I have a 440 in my duster
right now I have a cork gasket then winsor tray and then another cork gasket but looks like its all wet and slightly leaking
is there a better way or gasket that will seal better.
also is it possible to remove the pan (7qt) if i remove the steering linkage? Looks like I should be able to just wanted everyones thoughts on this.

CORK works fine .. but there are BESTer ones out there.

To assure more leak-free ... make sure the pan-rail is flat and do NOT over-torque the bolts.

I have herd the Milidon leak proff gasket is better but they cost way more. I have always used cork but Im very careful not to overtighten the bolts and tighten them evenly. Dont goop it up with lots of RTV/Silicone sealer cause then it will leak .

My 440 I used the cheap MP gaskets that came with the tray. Its been together 10 years and no leaks.I didnt use the MP tray but Milidon one.Corks seem to push out after a bit.I have 60 psi oil pressure all day also.Rocky

I just put a set of these in my 440 this weekend. They are of a "harder" composition than cork so in theory they won't "relax" or soften over time and then lose bolt torque. I used two corks ones previously and didn't have any problems either, but they did push out of the edges. I think the key is to use quality gaskets with sealer and proper torque on the bolts (200 inch pounds)

I stock and sell both the Superformance and Fel Pro gaskets for this. The Superformance MP 15 material is good if you have a thick railed pan, or a good strong rigid pan. I have found the FelPro race gaskets much better in dual ( windage tray) type applications especially with a stamped steel style pan, which doesnt like to be overtightened.
