My manuel drum brakes feel like standing on a brick. We have bled them more than once with no change. New master cylinder no help. Then a guy told me the bore on the master cylinder was probably too big! Anyone ever here that before. I do have brakes but not verry good. Any help! Thanks

Bore size will make a difference, but only slightly. I believe they range from 15/16" to 1-1/8". More important is pedal ratio as there is a difference on most cars between power brakes and manual. Manual need about a 4:1 ratio. Been there, done that on a 64 Plymouth when we figured out that the pedals are different after trying 3 different master cylinders.

Glazed shoes will cause the problem as stated. That and cheap shoes also.My kid had a friend put shoes on his 66 Charger. They were cheap and would stop but not very well.I always buy the best shoes or pads I can get.Rocky

I can tell you that bore size will make a BIG difference. When my master was too large it took both feet on the brakes and my butt out of the seat to stop the car quickly.

Unless the parts have been changed I bet his problem is bad shoes.
