If I can find another good 340 block I'm gonna build me a 4.06 x 4.25 BPE cranked 440, just because it's a Kewl thing to do....I figure having a legit 440 pie tin on a small block would be worth a few , huh?

My next project I think will be a 71-72 b body wagon tow car with dog dishes that I can use as a tow rig, guess I'll do that as soon as the CNC'ed W5 head deal I can swap on the Rocky falls into my lap...that way I can reuse the Shady dll stage 2's on it

Quick...you jumped in "pre-edit" although I'd love to start a collection of virgin 340 blocks.

Best Machine shows one on their Facebook page. It made a little over 700 hp with Edelbrock heads and a single 4 bbl carb.

I guess you need to have the engine built by someone who knows what they are doing.

Good porters are getting just over 300 CFM so you would need lots of compression and big cam, headers, cubes and carb, not the easiest 700 hp in the world but possible.

I just made 621 on pump gas with a 4" crank...I believe 630's was capable with a bit more time finding what it liked.
So more compression, more cam, more stroke, better block, vacuum pump...NOT CHEAP but whoever said 700HP would be.
Even in a BB it aint cheap.
