I've been chipping away little by little on my 68 Satellite 318 to 383 swap. For reference my 383 will be producing around 400hp at the crank and I will have a demon 750cfm sitting on a dual plane port match aluminum edelbrock intake...

First question is I haven't measured but I'm assuming because my car started out as a no frills 318 that it has 5/16" fuel line... I will have to invest in some 3/8" lines i'm sure? also i was thinking fine lines or inline. Is there another place that might be cheaper? since i'm on a budget.

So i figured since i'm doing that i might as well invest in an electric fuel pump before i purchased a new mechanical one. does anyone have any tips on a nice cheap electric pump that wouldn't starve my motor and be relatively reliable? what about the sending unit, can i get a stock one? I've never had an electric fuel pump, can i get any ol' inline fuel filter? Will i need a regulator? if so can anyone point me in the direction of a nice simple street car regulator?

Thanks in advance for any help. Cheers

I converted my 68 satellite from a 318 to a 383 and kept the 5/16" fuel line and had no fuel problems. I also ran a electric fuel pump for a while too. I used the Holley Red pump and mounted on the frame rail near the tank. (stock sending unit also)

I could be wrong but Im pretty sure the 5/16" fuel line is the factory size for the 383...

This is correct, and you'll be fine with the 5/16" line. My 67 Satellite is a 383 car, now running a 500 horse 451, and still has the orig. Fuel line. No problems here.

Personally, I don't like electric pumps unless you absolutely need them. The added potential of turning a small engine fire into a major disaster just isn't worth it to me. I run an mechanical Carter strip pump and have ano issues feeding an 830 DP @ 111 mph. To each their own, though.

Cool keeping that stock line will same me some cash, plus the original line looks in great shape. Thanks! I will definitely go ahead with a new stock sending unit though... you know how those chrysler sending units were lol.

So the holley red pump would be a good match for the 400 horse and the demon 750. My friend is suggesting a separate inline regulator for it what do you think? Any leads on a thrifty nice quality regulator? Also he is suggesting i get a fuel pressure gauge inline between the float bowls?

Thanks in advance!
