I am installing my' 72 904 tranny back in my Dart after a 5 year ..."I don't want to look at the damn car scernario."" so I have completely empty of fluid tranny...How much fluid will it take and what kind dextron??? I can't remember....Larry

empty? converter too?

put 6 qts in it..start in neutral..and add fluid as needed to fill mark on dip stick...

check fluid in neutral...

10+ qrts if TC is emprty

slow up on the filling and check about the 7-8 qrt mark and add slowly while runing thru the gears every so often and check in N with it all warmed up

Thanks for the info...Not gona matter now cause the converter is Effed...the converter has the two big hairline cracks that come from the notches on the drive...So now I have to find a 3000+ stall converter for a 904...I knew I sould have left the car in the corner inder the covers...

Best fluid for the old mopars is actually type-F. Keeps the clutches from slipping as much during shifts and makes the trans last longer.


I am not causing global warming, I am just trying to hold off a impending Ice Age!
