I am getting ready to order tires for my '73 Challenger and I was thinking of one of these two tires. Can't go wrong with the look of the Radial T/A/'s but the Firehawks have a higher averager review.

My car has 1" over ESPO springs and I will be using cop car wheels. I was thinkg 235/60/15s on the front and 255/70/15 on the rear. Do these sizes sound about right? I could probably go wider on the rear, but I think I want the taller tire due to the 1" taller springs. I put another pair of 255/60/15 BFG's I have laying around on and there is still 2" from the top of the tire to the wheel lip.

What do you think?

If you want 235/60's you will have to run a brand other than the BFG T/A as they have been on super-duper back order for ever basically.

I've never used Firestones myself, but have always had really good luck with the Cooper Cobra's at least...

I replaced my T/As with Firehawk Indy 500s. The Firestones are better, but they replaced 15-year-old tires. I have no idea how they would have compared to new T/As. However, I'm quite satisfied with the Firestones.

I had Firehawk SS/20 on my dart, same tire as the Indy, just no white lettering.
I was very impressed with them. Quiet on the highway, good grip in the corners
I wanted the Indy500's but they didnt have them available in the size I wanted.

This time I went with BFGoodrich cause they had a bigger selection of sizes.

I just got 255/60R15 for the rear from onlinetires

and I just got the last 2 225/60R15 from treadepot. 4 days later they were here.

Tire rack was too high for me after shipping, i was very happy with treadepot. The tires from online should be here Thursday, thats a week and a half ago that I ordered them.

Oh yeah, BFGoodrich. I don't like the font type on the Firestones. No offense anyone.

Don't know ? But had them on my old Charger, and a few lowered trucks (back when 15" billet wheels were still "in"), and a few other vehicles too and sold tons of them in Oz as well. Good in the dry out here and the odd time it rains here they worked really nicely as well.

I use 18" stuff on my car now, but still ship batchs of the Coopers to Oz and everyone has been real happy with them.

Still do send 20ish T/A's over at a time too for orders from guys who just want the 'look' and name of them.

If you want 15" white letter tires "all-season" is pretty much all that's left these days. You can buy repo poly glass tires, but they cost more, and probably don't perform as well as a radial tire.

I went with Indy 500's. I DO like the look of the BF Goodrich TA's, but no one had the sizes I wanted. 235/60-15 fronts and 295/50-15 for the back.

I think they look ok and they seem like decent tires. The reviews seem ok on them too.

That is a bad@$$ lookin station wagon. I have to ask a stupid question, is the wagon part an addition or is it stock? Never seen one like that before.

Thank you. No, it is not stock. It started life as a '69 4 door Sport Satellite wagon. Here is a thread I started about the car. I am not a big money guy, so progress is slow.

Firestone Firehawks are great. Quiet, good road manners, good on wet pavement if you are unfortunate enough to get caught in something.

I had a set of SS/20's and they were the best set of tires I've had on the Dakota, handled well and lasted 55k miles. Next was a set of TA's, what a disappointment, handled like marshmellows and lasted not quite 39k miles. Got a set of Indy 500's that appear to be the same tire as the SS/20 a few months ago and I'm happy again.

Cooper Cobra. Good performance even in the rain. Smell good when smoldering too. American made.
