OOTB ports, but upgraded springs, retainers and locks. They're on a 512 with a solid roller cam, and 13.5:1 compression. Running 10.40s in a 3380lb Dart.

My brother is running them on a 10.5-1 383 with a voodoo 533 lift cam and they seem to work good. He doesnt have many miles on them but seem to make good power.

i recently did a repair job on a set of NEW stealth heads. the springs are very soft compared to what i run, i'd say they're good for a stock hydraulic cam, nothing more & the retainers.....i'm glad the owner decided to upgrade with the locks, they really are nothing more than toys or stock replacement.

i swapped from iron,906 heads,to 440 source.
both are pocket ported and milled to 78cc.
picked up about 1 1/2 tenths.
i did fit a thinner cometic gasket to pop up the comp,10.4-10.8,due to thermal efficioncy(spelling)
with more tuning, some weight reduction and suspension work i am now around 6 tenths faster
i am still using the supplied springs retainers etc - but i am running a purple 509 cam shifting at 6000 trapping at 6300.these cams are easy on the valvetrain.
i am looking to go to a solid flat tappet next year when springs retainers and locks will be replaced
Source qualify their retainers to 510 lift

why go to the expense of a solid roller cam and run an ootb head?

Why take the chance on breaking in a flat tappet these days? Plus the solid roller can't be beat for performance either. Plus I'm sure he will port the heads eventually.

Has anyone ever had issues with the valve guides? A buddy of mine has these heads on a 383 with 1.6 rockers and a hyd. cam. His lift is right at .600" of lift. He used the springs that came with the heads with the upgraded retainers and locks. After 20 passes the valve guides were pounded down the valve stems.

Were the retainers hitting the guides?

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Seen a few sets come through the shop building my B-1. Tight valve guides(ie binding) appear to be common. S/F....Ken M

ive never really seen tight guides though i ream them when i port them... out of the box they ream them from the port side up towards the valve top and sometimes there is a burr turned up above the guide which will restrict oil from getting in to lubricate teh valve/guide,,, ive told brandon about it and i believe he has fixed it with recent "batches" of heads

their retainers are std 7 degree retainers as used in the industry,, no problem there,, the locks are a hardened stamped 7 degree lock,, in most applications there wouldnt be an issue with a flat hyd cam or mild solid flat cams
