I have replaced a smallblock engine with an another engine that is 20 cubes less in displacement but makes 30 Horsepower more. The stall was around 3800 before but now seems higher.Does this sound right?I am just asking as I am wondering if the convertor is going off. What signs should I look for to determine if the convertor is going off?The trans is a 727,deep pan, reverse manual valve body.

If you're now making more TORQUE your stall will be higher. Sounds like a good motor.

cruise along at 15 to 20mph in 3rd gear and floor it..look at tach..it will jump momentarilly to where your converter is working
