Hello All, I am getting ready to set my motor in place. It's a 68 Dart with a 400 block 512. I am using the Magnumforce front suspension. I am going to center the motor, trans, and Dana. I am going to use the stock firewall and will be expanding the trans tunnel to make the shield fit. Motor plates front and mid. My questions are #1, should I set the motor as low as possible and as far back as possible and #2 should the block and carb base be level or at a slight angle? I am sure these questions have been asked and answered a dozen times but I couldn't find anything in a search that addressed these two details. As always, thanks for your help and advise.

Paul

If you set the engine high in the car it will transfer
the weight easier BUT it could wheel stand easier...
it comes down to the weight distribution.... if you get
it too 50/50 I would raise it some but if the front
is heavier I would raise it more... if you set it back
a fair amount then I would keep it low.... point the
center line of the crank/trans right at the pinion then
just add in the pinion angle later(that way the whole
drive line is in line)

Hi Mike, thanks for the advise. I am looking to put the motor low so the carb will fit under a low hood scoop. At the carb location the scoop is only about an !-1/2" to 2" above the hood surface. I also was hoping that by keeping it low it would also lower the c/l too.

Thanks Mike, How do you feel about the engine/carb being level?? The Victor manifold is square with the block so if I level the block the carb will be level also. I am hoping to have a low stance and there should not be to much of a rake to the car. Your advise is greatly appreciated.

Paul
