a 440 shouldn't be much more than 100 lbs heavier than a 383...afterall, same heads, same accessories, intakes aren't going to be that different in weight, the block is what...1/2" higher? that 1/2" of cast iron on both sides can't weigh THAT much.
what happens if you go over and sit on the fender?

What I can think of being heavier: block, crank, rods, pistons, intake, distributor. Some of that is only by ounces, so my GUESS is 20-30 lbs. I think AndyF has some info on relative weights in his book, but IIRC some of the motors he weighed had aluminum heads & whatnot.
Yeah, according to AndyF, "as much as 40 pounds less" when talking about a complete engine.

I think its between 60-80 lb. difference in the block, your looking at 1" extra meat on each side. The only extra diffence elsewhere would be in the intake (cast iron) & dist., but if your installing an aluminum intake & billet dist., that shouldn't affect it by much.

I agree that the difference has to be on the order of 20-30lbs. As far as ride height, dropping your car an inch is no big deal IF you mean an inch from factory ride height spec. But what if your car was already low before the swap?
Measure the ride height now compared to spec. Heck---many thousands of car owners took advantage of the adjustability of torsion bars to lower there car a bit (1-1.5") with no ill effects.
If your worried about a SLIGHT change in tire wear, and you drive your car a LOT, then get it re-aligned
How could it only be an extra 20-30 lbs. when you have that extra iron on both sides.
Explain "extra iron on both sides" I can only think of the increased deck height, partially offset by the larger bores, but I may very well not be looking at this correctly.

Thats what i'm reffering to.
I guess i should add the crank/pistons ect.
It shows the B as 620 & the RB as 670
