I did the same thing. I know the hole is smaller than 2 1/16, I think I used a 2" hole saw and then a dremel to open it up a little more to fit the gauge.

left it nice and tight, don't even use the retaining clip that attaches from the back, the gauge fits so snugly into the holes.
