I have a stock 383, Is a EX268 cam a trouble free upgrade? what would be the thinnest head gasket I could use to bring up the compression after installing this cam? without of course smacking the valves.......

Thanks

compression ?
John ask the question what pistons? I assume you have stock pistons with stock compression height, the valves wouldn't even be close to hitting with that cam. If you want more compression cut the heads. 20 steel head shim with copper coat. The trouble free part ? when you cut heads to build compression, push rods and adjustable rockers have to be looked at.

Do you know the thickness for stock head gaskets? my motor is a uncut orginal, I would like to keep like that as long as I can.

Thanks!
