Opinions please!
I’m getting close to putting my engine back together for the ‘Bird. This is a 440 with a 4.15 stroker crank netting about 497 cubic inches, 10:1 compression and ported 906 heads. The cam is a custom ground hydraulic flat tappet from Hughes.
Here are my two paths I’m considering:
first is the lower cost option of the stamped MP “six pack” rocker arms and adjustable pushrods.
The second option would be the Hughes 1.5: roller rockers. The rollers would be considerably more of an investment (about $400 more) and I have no doubt that these would be the “better” option, but would they be worth the additional investment.
This is going to be a strong regularly driven street car with only a very occasional (if ever) pass down the strip. I’d like to save a few bucks if I can, but don’t want to cheap out on something that would be of significant benefit to my engine.
Thoughts?
