 Nature of the beast. AVS, Carter and Eddy have the fuel bowl cast into the carb body. Great for preventing Holley style leaks, but also attracts more heat than the Holley. A 1/2" phenolic or wood 4 hole spacer usually does the trick. Stay away from an aluminum spacer, it attracts and transfers heat just as quickly as the carb bowl itself.
