4 Barrel carbs get a bad rap for mpgs. A small 4 barrel can actually deliver really GOOD mpg if the driver keeps his foot out of it!
Think about it, if the secondaries are not used, what do you have? A small 2 barrel! (in effect)

Oh, AND, BIG 2 barrels (like 500-600cfm) usually provide poor throttle response AND poor mpg. Don;t go that route!!!
