Been using catalyzed primers for years (also referred to as 2K) - better bite, better build, and doesn't attract moisture as much as lacquer primer. We use the Standox line, and they have some great products, including a primer called NonStop that works great when you have to lock in an unknown sub-surface (for example, painting over lacquer). Lacquer primer also tends to "shrink", meaning that over time it soaks into the sanding scratches & whatever, making them visible through your finish coat.
