Do the instructions require a different torque spec for another style head, aluminum vs. iron? If not, I'd tend to lean towards the ARP spec as they designed, manufactured and tested the product. Edelbrock has no idea regarding your ARP bolt characteristics.

and for the "But you ain't got no legs, Lieutenant Dan." crowd. He's already identified a discrepancy. Might that be the reason for the question.




ARP indtructions:
Preload (torque recommendations:

[A] Torque values are based on 75% of the fasteners yeild strenght. Use the manufacturers torque sequence but do not use the engine manufacturers torque specs. Torque the bolts to 85 ft lbs for ARP MOLY ASSEMBLY Lubricant (or ARP thread sealer) or torque to 130 ft lbs with 30wt motor oil.

B] Due to the heat expansion rate of ALUMINUM, it is recommended that the torque should be 75 ft lbs with ARP moly assembly lubricant (or arp thread sealer).
