I mill those pesky things out of the way when bushing the bores. Plenty of power by relocating the intake lifters, using the offset intake lifters, straightening up the pushrods and running a good stiff pushrod.


I learn something new every day. I currently am runnng 440-1 heads on my 400 low deck with standard lifters (solid flat tappet) with no problem. But looking at my old pics, I can see where using offset roller lifters to straighten out the intake pushrods would move the pushrod toward the casting where I put white arrows.
