Chuck just build a 408 for a friend of mine in Europe, it was just a junk yard 360, plain jane mid 70's 915 J heads with mild port work and a good valve job, HYD. Cam, pump gas compression, and had a customer supplied intake (EB Performer which certainly choked it real well) but all else was just a basic 360 stroker build. He just dynoed it and it came in at 435 HP/465LB Torque. Not bad for an off the shelf-no trick parts or machine work build. If it were me I'd have him start from scratch and build you an all new long block and toss your other engine under the work bench for someday.
