Depends on whether your doing the paint job yourself or not.

I painted a set of chevy racing stripes on my 80' malibu and they look great if not better than decals. Paint is going to last longer than decals IMO. I won't be painting the decals on my roadrunner cause that takes a lot of measurements to get the exact factory look, along with the pinstripes on the hood and what not.
