Thanks for the replys folks. The reason for my questions is because I was ready to purchase a 493 stroker kit for my new engine, but basicly the mfg of the kit talked me out of it. I was OK with the extra HP, but the torque concerned me a lot. My car has 29.5X11.5 MT slicks, S/S leaf springs and weighs in at 3270 lbs on the track. It runs very consistant at 6.8x/99 in 1/8 and 10.8x/121 in 1/4 now with a .060 over 440 (worn out!) I don't want to change the combo to much, just build a good bracket engine.
I feel that I can use more horse power, but I don't need much more torque. I'm thinking that a .030 over, 3.90 stroke with my .590 solid cam, team G intake, 1050 carb, Stealth heads and about 13.5-14.0 compression will give me a little more torque, but quite a bit more HP. By adding the extra stroke it will help get the compression up there a little easier.
Or am I way off base?
Thanks for any sugestions, Brian
