Are you wanting suggestions on how to set the preload? If so is this a iron head iron block combination or ? If iron head, iron block warm the motor up and then back the adjustment off(One side, one cylinder at a time) after rotating the motor over untl the exhaust rocker starts to open a tiny bit, back the intake rocker adjustment off until you can rotate the rocker up and down some, once your there tighten it slowly until you get zero movement, tighten 1/4 to 1/2 turn. rotate the motor again in the normal rotation until the intake valve opens and starts to close some, adjust the exhaust rocker. Adjust the valves on one side and then start the motor up and let it run for a few minutes so the lifters pump up and check them again, reajust them if nesseccary After your happy you have that done do the other and then let it rip, let us know if you fix it or what you do to fix it. Did it act like the lifters where pumping up(started missing or popping and banging out the intake and exhaust) at the shift points?
