Does anyone have experience testing the E85?

I test the E85 every time I buy it. Since I fill a 55 gallon drum every time at the pump, that is about twice a year. But before I buy it, I ask the station owner to show me the delivery sheets that list the number of gallons of ethanol and gasoline they put it.

Using the standard water test, I have always got batches between 82 and 85 percent. Always within 1 or so percent of what the delivery sheet showed.

Beware of other than summer grade E85, as it could be as low as 70% ethanol. That is bad for all mixture tuning, and really bad for high compression engines. I just happened to drive by the station today, and tested what they had. It was still 85%, but this station doesn't move very much E85 and doesn't get refilled every week or so like their gasoline tanks.

My 511 CID burns really close to 1.0 gallons per run. That includes driving to the staging lanes and back to my pit spot. On gasoline, it burned 0.7 per run and on methanol (alky) it burned about 1.5 gallons per run.
