My 2000 Cummins Ram has not had ATF 3 since the first fluid change I did at 30k miles , rebuilt the trans at 90k because some donkey I let that it for a blast to try outthe bigger turbo smoked my hi gear clutch pack . I drove it for 40k miles like that , it was fine as long as I didn't tow or hotrod it, ran dex 3 exclusively in it , it's got 122k on it since the rebuild still using dex 3 ...

As far as what the mASSES wanted , that's why the trans has a bad reputation ...
