You need to plan a build and run the numbers before ordering parts. There are many online compression calculators out there. Here's one: http://kb-silvolite.com/calc.php?action=comp

Compression results will be give as static, or you can solve for dynamic if you have the cam specs. When deciding on a cam try to get the "intake closing point" number @ .006" instead of .050."; The smaller number is more accurate. If you're using the KB calculator do not add 15º to the closing point if you have the ".006" number. Building quench is very important.

I ended up with 10 cc domes and 82 cc heads to get a CR of 12.2, but I'm at 5300 ft.
