This is why it makes little sense to ask this type of question on a WORLDWIDE internet forum , prices vary by area , the parts pretty much cost the same everywhere in the US , but labor rates vary .

It's fairly cheap for a rebuild kit for a 727 , what you are paying for is a WARRANTY , general practice is cost of parts times 2.5 plus the cost of labor which usually comes from a book and is more time than an experienced person can do the job in. This covers the shop incase they have to redo it , they still make money on the parts .

Are you going to ship or drive your trans 1000 miles to save a couple hundred bucks ? Are you going to print this out and tell the guy he's charging too much and you can get it done elsewhere for less ???
