The real nice ones yes, but a standard indicator (like the one pictured) is only good down to .0005. The crappiest mics out there are good to .0001. I'm not seeing the logic, I guess it's just faster with a DI...
A Mic that measure to 1/10th of a thou is useless in the wrong hands, a stretch gauge or snap gauge takes the user's "feel" out of the equation. They are a very accurate measuring device that can be used quickly and consistantly. A Mic with spherical anvils could be used, but the stretch gauge would be just as accurate and much faster.
Unless you are in a temperature controlled environment, measuring to 0.0001" is futile, the size will change just holding the mic in your hand too long. AL...
