Wide tires, I mean WIDE tires as compared to what's available now, wasn't really the thing. Wasn't the rule for Super Stock a seven (7") inch wide slick at the time? Mini vans today have more than seven inch wide tires. Didn't we think F70-14 WIDE OVALS were really WIDE in '68 If you think that a 7.75-14 tire had little or no traction on dry pavement you should have seen what they were like on a wet road or in the SNOW BTW they fit perfectly on both street car rails and if you got caught on a pair of wet street car rails on a downhill in Pittsburgh and had to get on the brakes hard because someone decided to make a left turn at the last second in front of you it was a real pucker moment even with F70-14 red lines on your '69 Road Runner DAMHIK.
