i have done that riv-nut trick many times.
i have the tool, but there are so many times it's just too big to get into the spot you need.
my recommendation, if you want to do riv-nuts and don't have the tool, do like the video and save your money.
the only thing i will add, use a grade 8 bolt so you won't snap it off during the install.
