Its pretty well done up. Fremont Street has the grittier folks, but there are usually free concerts at night and a show on the ceiling.

http://www.pinballmuseum.org/The brothels are in Nye county, which is about an hour away (yes, prostitution is technically illegal in Las Vegas). The Pioneer Saloon is not a far drive, and is an old bar from over 100 years ago.
