Southern Idaho is high desert so we can get past 100 in the summer and well below 0 in the winter. It's also flat so wind from coming up from Nevada and across from Oregon is common.

We got 39 inches of snow in 2017. Numerous buildings with flat or low sloped roofs failed. You can tell a lot about the winter weather in areas just by looking at the roof slopes of buildings. Steep sloped roofs cost money, but they are there for a reason.
