I'm up at the north end ("panhandle"), Sandpoint.
Winters here vary, like 2-3 years of mild (little snow), then a couple years of heavy snow, back & forth.
About 3 cycles in the last 16 years.
Really just depends on El Nino pattern and of course temps.
Best to do some Wiki research of the different towns' altitude & weather.
Snow level seems to be about 2500-3000 feet, but we also have micro-climates where it varies a lot.
The further away from a city you are, the more self-sufficient you need to be, of course.
