Doing some rough math I bet you got 4.070 file fits. Opening up bore by 1 thou. has has to be multiplied by pi to get the gap change. 4.07-4.03 =.04 x 3.14= .1256 overlap in a 4.03 bore which would have put the gap at .0044 in a 4.070 bore with those rings. Perfect for file fitting. By putting a too large ring in the bore and filling excessively to get the gap still loads the ring in the bore much harder. I would fish scale the drag and see what you come up with. Might be ok.
