I bet this is it. It seemed to me the "groove" was to far to the outside and that the torque convertor bolts couldn't actually be removed without removing the entire shield, instead of the small access panel. I am using the thin head convertor bolts.
Now, are these covers the same for 727 and 904? I am not sure I have a cover meant for the smaller convertor bolt pattern in either trans. Are they hard to find??


904 and 727 use different shields.
If it were the bolts they would more than likely also be tickling the rear block web too.
Are you using an after market converter in a 727. They usually use the small flex plate.
