You must have Min insurance (10/20/10?) on any tagged vehicle in Fla. Some insurance co's are very aggressive in reporting insurance removal. others take time. Time is of of the essence regardless. State sometimes doesn't understand the simple concept you only changed companies. The burden then falls on you to prove otherwise. They don't have to by law warn or tell you your DL is suspended, remember the saying "driving is not a right", so due process is not required. Best to "surrender" tag BEFORE dropping insurance, and be sure and get a DMV(?) hard copy receipt , and hang on to it, since the whole process can take months to straighten out. Unfortunately there is not "parked" insurance coverage offered that I know of in Fla. Also understand, a tag you have not "surrendered", expired say ten? years later, is still considered your responsibility for tolls, etc, until you report it stolen or lost in a police report. All a big hassle. I have plenty of experience with the above. rant runaway biggrin

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.
