I'm going to say they probably seed the current year champion from each bracket to even the field out like they use to do in all the other classes years ago when they limited the World finals field to 16 entries based on each current division class champions being seeded along with the current world champ and the rest was based on qualifying against your current NHRA record
the Gold and silver cards are a really big help for sportman racers racing the next year
