Also going rounds was MarkZ's and my trans builder, Jeff Russell in his '65 Barracuda, he made it to the semis in Pro and got taken out by a .000 light.

Congrats!!! quite an accomplishment! if you go to Pomona enjoy it and take it all in. A friend/ fellow racers son (from our track ) Won the Super/Pro Title there last year and had a blast. A motorcycle racer from our track will be going out this year as he Won the Bike title at the Bracket Finals

Awesome job! Very proud of him!
Not only that, but Nelson Belot Jr. (not a Mopar) won in Pro! I used to race quite a bit against his dad at Lebanon Valley in the 80's and 90's.

One class winner from each class at each division (7 divisions). One race of champions winner of a class of one of the divisions is the 8th car/bike. Not sure how they pick the class or division.
They started doing the 8th racer to eliminate the bye run at the national championship race.

I'm going to say they probably seed the current year champion from each bracket to even the field out like they use to do in all the other classes years ago when they limited the World finals field to 16 entries based on each current division class champions being seeded along with the current world champ and the rest was based on qualifying against your current NHRA record 
the Gold and silver cards are a really big help for sportman racers racing the next year

Congrats!!! two Mopars in the Final, BTW Nelson Jr ran a cool 6cyl 65-6 Dart wagon a few years ago
