One thing that sticks out is most of the cars you see run on youtube have a note on the bottom that says that the transbrake and torque reserve weren't used, I think tractions the main problem. I'm guessing the 9.65 was mineshaft air, unheard of track prep and every doodad and gadet used.
Plus the driver probably was a little more svelte than some of the people piloting these cars.(and a pro if I'm not mistaken)
