The tranny can be used in our cars if the output shaft and tail housing are changed. I use that tranny in my builds because it is usually cheap and if Mopar thought that the internal changes were tougher then who am I to argue.

The output shaft from any 727 BB or SB will go into the pinion set, but there are 2 different spline pitches to watch for and mis-matching them will shorten their life expectancy.

'75 and back use a 45* pitch while '76 and up uses a 37.5* pitch. The later shaft has an extra groove in it to identify it.
