if you move the dist CCW then you move the wires CW. If you move the dist CW then move the wires CCW. EDIT easier visualization: the #1 plug wire is above the rotor/you want to maintain that. If you twist the dist (cap) to the right (CW 1/8 turn) then you need to move the plug wire(s) back to the left (CCW) to get it (#1) back to where it was (above the rotor). If you start out with the magnet dead even with the tooth before you first twist it then you can judge the 1/8 turn dead on & have your timing very near what it was, then start it for a final adjustment with your light.
