The problems I stated above happened to lots of high horsepower builds. I forgot about the sleeves sinking in the block as mentioned above. A replacement sleeve at the time was $25. I'm all about saving money but that's suspiciously cheap for a quality part. If I were to build another of those blocks for myself I would build the biggest CI NA motor I could. That would depend on which block you had as there were 3 or 4 different bore sizes available. If your using a motor plate that eliminates the side of the block pulling out issue.
I know someone who can run the block number and see if it's considered a go no go block. I'll post as soon as they get back with me.
