I had been thinking about a cowl hood on my 1970 GTX for some time. I heard all about using a Chevy hood on my Mopar from some of my friends.
I found a fiberglass hood nearby on Craigslist and bought an 8 inch tall Harwood cowl scoop. I joined the two and took it to a test and tune.
That particular night we had a pretty good head wind. In my engineering mind I thought the cowl hood would help the air up and over the GTX and out toward the sides as it gets wider toward the back. I did back to back runs with my forward facing scoop hood and the cowl hood. The result was a BIG disappointment as the GTX slowed down a 10th!
I would be open to ideas to make it work and if not find someone who would be interested in the cowl scoop.
