I used to have the grungiest, nastiest dakota starter I've ever seen. I had it on my 4-speed without the shields on and somehow it got caught in the teeth and busted the snout.

I got a reman advance starter and it works great. So much easier to install as well. It would be really hard for a remanufacturer to screw up a nippendenso starter. There's almost nothing to them. I wouldn't use a stock starter unless it was on a Slant Six
