Before I take the shifter back off . I'm trying to find out of the adapter bracket on the trans that if originally equipped with a inland shifter and I mount a 1969 style Hurst shifter to it.

Does it raise the shifter itself too high , thus causing my issue?

Its an original 1968 Trans and the adapter was already on it. And if they mount the shifter the exact same height I'm not going thru the trouble to pull said shifter and/or source a replacement adapter bracket.

My gut tells me that if there was a problem with the repop shifters. I would have heard at least something long before now. Having traveled in that circle for a while.

The console was originally an AUTO console for a 1967 B body that's been modified. But using a template to cut it and where was made off from the busted up original 4 speed console so I have my doubts the console itself is the issue.
