How did corvette make entire car bodies from it for so many years? Are they still using glass or is it urethane now?

I wonder if they were just much, much thicker? Thick enough that there's no weight savings over steel....

I know many glass hoods are thicker then mine at the edges. We used to call them street or race hoods as mine is to thin near the edges to mount it on the hinges so it has to be a lift off unless a good glass worker made it thicker. But the hood itself seems thinner then the stock type that came on 6 pack cars. So I would be pretty sure the Corvette had thicker figerglass on most of the car. My back two corners only sit up mayne about 1/8 to 1/4" when cold but when I drive it and the eng warms up they end up dipping about 1/4". Just catch me when the eng is about 160 and the hood fits perfect. grin Ron
