I picked up on a 70 steering wheel a few years back for my car. It's un-restored and the wood looks like the darker 68-9 to me. I thought maybe it was a late 69 or early 70 piece.
Could be an early/late, or vendor(s)change?, or just "mistakes" or substitutions made by the vendors?, who knows?...I do know that when I was looking for a woodgrain wheel for my 70 Charger, I bought a 69 wheel, had the dark grain, but did have the 3 drilled holes for the 70 column adapter, and had the smaller 68-9 horn adapter, I restored my wheel using the 70 repro adapter/horn, plus the woodgrain needed a redo...only criteria I had was a wheel with no cracks
The aftermarket repro wheels for the 70 while nice are too dark, and the spokes too polished looking, but they can be modded to emulate any year desired if the OP or others want to go this route?
