The cam timing for the 6.1 will lose bottom end power in the 5.7,bleeding off cylinder pressure I would assume.I bought a new Mopar longblock that has a 6.1 cam installed and the previous owner swapped the cam and used the stock timing set.I want to adjust before install also.I've read 4,6 and 8 degrees advance for the 6.1 in a 5.7.It probable depends on car weight and gearing as far as how far. Most I've read leans toward 8 degrees, mine is going in a stock 2004 Durango aka HEAVY!
